the tte approach
I have spent years as a student of the sport and physiology. I have applied literature and science to training to enjoy successes and learn from failures. TTE has evolved from over 2 decades of experience to deliver tried and true programs that adapt to your lifestyle.

TTE coaches the person first, the athlete second. There is no point in trying to direct an athlete if the person is out of balance. We are supporting a lifestyle; all aspects of the person need to be whole. We’re building something, there is a process. We need to embrace the process, understand that the finished product takes time, takes commitment, and takes guidance. Let us be the guide!

My teachers were the masters. Fitness and performance based on the principles of physiologic giants such as Tim Noakes, Arthur Lydiard, Renato Canova, Phil Maffetone and the likes. My teachers taught me how to adapt these principles into success much like the Norwegians, past Ironman, marathon, and cycling champions.

I believe in objective measurements. I believe in using laboratory techniques to take the guesswork out of zones. I use blood lactate measurements to determine individual zones, and correlate these values to specific power ranges and heart rate ranges. Geographic challenges to in person lactate tests to be handled on an individual basis.

Progress needs to be visible, attainable, and measurable. TTE uses metabolic and physiologic measurements to benchmark training and performance. We also use Training Peaks for workout prescription, and for me to be able to audit improvement, performance, fatigue etc. Workouts are prescribed within specific zones with specific power and pace parameters. We use various tests at various times to determine individual lactate metabolism; and identify zones, pace, and power. I then work to correlate other physiologic markers to pace and power, so that athletes can use heart rate, ventilatory threshold, perceived exertion etc. Through measurements of lactate, heart rate, and power we can objectively design the ideal program for your goals
